To be or not to be (me)

Isn’t that the question, really, when writing a blog? Are the ‘about’ page and the latest ‘Gravatar’ powered profile option a means to elicit truth, confession, unflinching honesty or are they just another method for us to elude one another, make up names and professions, ages and other identifying features? Are we in the business of creating or summing up?

Jean Baudrillard writes that “The simulacrum is true.” And isn’t that the beauty of this medium, that the real and the simulated, the original and the simulacrum are all one and the same. This is an undifferentiating ontology. Welcome to the virtual!
